How it works
Headphone measurements estimate how a model differs from a target response under a particular measurement method. A correction curve can reduce some of that difference.
Unit variation, fit, seal, pads and measurement rigs matter. The most accurate-looking curve is still an estimate for your physical pair and wearing position.
ToneEQ layers device correction and preference, then creates one final curve so the same effect is not accidentally applied twice.
When to use it
- Start with the matching model and keep initial preference changes modest.
- Use bypass and level-matched comparisons on several familiar tracks.
- Save separate profiles when fit, pads, wired/wireless mode or a DAC materially changes the chain.
Limits to know
- AutoEQ cannot repair damaged hardware or guarantee a target response at your eardrum.
- Large narrow boosts can consume headroom and may exaggerate measurement uncertainty.
- Personal preference can legitimately differ from a published target.
